Blogs and Online Diaries
Blogs are a real buzzword at the moment and for good reason. The way Blogs "spread the word" means they are a quick way to send out information to the search engines. While you can get free blogs through services like Blogger, we recommend a branded, integrated system using Wordpress. It has lots of features and you either have your own separate blog or make it part of your overall online presence.

Forums and Discussion Boards
Forums can provide a great way for people to interact with your website, but also with other visitors. It is this interaction that can create a community centered around your website and a community can be one of the most powerful parts of your online presence.
We use phpBB for our forums, it is widely used and has many extensions you can add to it to enhance its functionality.
Newsletter Managers
A good newsletter can be a great way to stimulate sales and enquiries, we use PHPList for sending out our newsletters. It is a great system that you can use for not only creating and sending newsletters, but for the legal collection of subscribers using a full "double opt-in" subscription method.
Photo Galleries
Photo Galleries are cool for displaying photos (plus video as well) using a clean display and an easy way to add your photos in. If you have a community of users you can even allows others to upload their own photos to the gallery. Even give them an album of their own.
We use Coopermine as a fully featured gallery system, we have also used Zenphoto when a smaller gallery is needed
Ad Managers
One way to make money from your website is by advertsiign. To manage your advertisers and get the best from the ads you have on your site, phpAdsnew (or Openads, as it is now called) can help you do this. From priorities, to targetting of ads, it provides a high level of flexibilty in delivering ads to your visitors
